Huib Vreugdenhil is a tennis OldStar

BORCULO – Lenie Jacobs (73) and Huib Vreugdenhil (72) can call themselves Tennis OldStars. The two from Borculo, together with 17 other 60-plus players, meet each Thursday morning at tennisclub De Wildbaan for a game and a cuppa coffee. Vreugdenhil: “The Borculo OldStars are more than just 60-plus tennis players, we’re friends”. Tennis has been played at De Wildbaan by people over 60 for a while. Vreugdenhil: “For years there was talk at the club about tennis for people over 60, but nothing happened. When I turned 65, I thought: now it is time to really pick it up. Stefan and Lars Vreugdenhil raise thousands of euros for greener school playgrounds

DRIEBERGEN-RIJSENBURG – A school playground isn’t just a place where kids feel at home, birds and other animals do too. Elementary school ‘De Kring’ (The Circle) in Driebergen is one of the prize-winners and received a cheque for re-designing the playground. “There will be a large planter box, the football field will be fenced off with high post, there’ll be bushes, and an outside classroom too,” says student Lars. Rinus Vreugdenhil plays a protest song against two extra wind turbines

Marinus Paardekoper doesn't understand why there are plans to add two new wind turbines on the Rozenburg island. Ten firemen from Honselersdijk have been awarded decorations, because they’ve been members of the voluntary fire service for over twenty years. The firemen decorated are John Bruinen, Rob Honselaar, Leen Lange, John van der Linden, Marco van Santen, Wim the Voeght, Michiel Zuijderwijk, Jeroen Zuurveld, Jos Zwinkels, and Eric Huibrecht Vreugdenhil (K XII l.1, fourth from the right).
