Lois Vreugdenhil with Mixed Up to Junior Song Contest

One of the participants in the Junior Songfestival was Lois Vreugdenhil with her group ‘Mixed Up’, singing the song ‘It Doesn’t Matter’. On Saturday, September 24th, Mixed Up competes with Luna, Infinity, and HIGH5 for the win. A professional jury, a children’s jury, and the home audience determine the result. The winner will go to Armenia later this year to represent the Netherlands at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

Lois is 14 years old and the oldest of three girls at home. She loves dancing, singing, trampolining, baking, and shopping. In the future, she would like to have a job where she can present, act, dance, and sing. Lois has been dancing and singing for a long time. “I remember when I was three, I was singing in my K3 dress with a microphone.” She has been dancing since she was seven and has also done gymnastics. For the past three and a half years, Lois has been singing more intensively and has also taken singing lessons.

The group

Lois auditioned with a friend for the Junior Song Festival. From the beginning, it seemed fun to her to perform in a group. “It seems much more fun to be in a group,” she explains. After the auditions, the Song Festival creates the various acts, and producers make the songs. In June, Lois met the rest of the group, and since then, she has regularly gone to Hilversum to rehearse.

Mixed Up consists of two girls, Lois and Noor, and two boys, Joep and Sam. “The name ‘Mixed Up’ was chosen because we are a mixed group of boys and girls. And we can be a bit chaotic sometimes,” Lois laughs. They perform the song ‘It Doesn’t Matter,’ which is about being yourself no matter what happens. The performance has already taken place, and they finished second, a great achievement.
