Vreugdenhil Bulbs & Plants celebrates its 85th anniversary

This year (2023), Vreugdenhil Bulbs & Plants celebrated its 85th anniversary. The nursery from ‘s-Gravenzande was founded on August 1, 1938, by Jochem Vreugdenhil’s grandfather. Later, the business passed to father Leen, and Jochem, and later Wouter, joined the company. Since 2018, Jochem and his wife Marjolijn Vreugdenhil have been at the helm. The family business has now grown into a large and diverse nursery, specializing in the cultivation of about 15 different crops.

In addition to Amaryllis, Zantedeschia, Ornithogalum, Caladium, and Canna have also become well-known crops for the nursery. “Together, you achieve more than alone,” say Jochem and Marjolijn Vreugdenhil. “Not for nothing is our slogan ‘growing together.’ We apply this philosophy to every collaboration, both within our team and with our suppliers and fellow growers. We are among the larger growers and have plenty of ambitions, but always remain a socially oriented family business.” The official 85th anniversary of the company was on August 1, 2023. This milestone was celebrated with the employees. Additionally, the nursery also celebrated this anniversary year with the company’s associates in September. For this special occasion, a dedicated anniversary magazine was developed. “In the magazine, we reflect on our history and look at future opportunities and challenges.
